CASE STUDY PETRO CHEMICAL PLANT

  • Air Separation, Centrifual Compressor with a 1,600 liter (420-gal) oil reservoir

  • Varnish problems reported:

    • Visible varnish observed on the tilt pad bearings and gear system

    • Bearing temperatures fluctuated between 120- 140C

  • Oil showed signs of rapid degradation, as oil lasted between 4-6 months.

  • ESP Unit installed by Fluitec on May 10th, 2010

CASE STUDY CONCLUSIONS

  • MPC values were brought to normal levels in 2 weeks.

  • A year after ESP installation, journal bearing inspections revealed that the restored oil had largely removed the deposits.

  • Bearing temperatures are now maintained at a normal level of 90oC.

  • ESP has been installed for 9-years and the air compressor continues to operate successfully
